Seriously, pennies are the worst. . .they're worth nothing, they take up tons of space, and they're filthy. Think of how much unnecessary work would be eliminated if we abolished the penny. No more counting them, handling them, or carrying them. No more getting a fistful of copper every time you buy a 96 cent piece of jerky! No more feeling obliged to leave a penny in that little tray or feeling like a cheap bastard when you take a few for yourself. I mean, when you really think about it, the "take a penny leave a penny" tray is a testament to how worthless the penny actually is.
Trailblazing countries such as Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand (among others) have abolished the penny and have never looked back. Will Canada be next, or are we doomed to waste away our lives counting out these garbage coins like a bunch of hosers? You decide.
