Advertising and You

It took me a while to realize, but I am now quite sure that advertising actually works, and, as it turns out, is quite effective in convincing people that they need useless items like designer ipod cases.

Have you ever found yourself acting upon an advertisement knowingly and not stopping yourself? And then thinking, "Why did I buy this product instead of the No-Name version?" Do I feel safer buying the brand name product or something? Do I think people will think I'm cooler because I have the name brand thing? I'm not sure. Maybe they teach you somewhere, probably the internet.

This weekend I saw an advertisement on a pack of smokes I had retardedly procured that read "If you smoke you will die a terrible death" with a picture of this guy with cancer lying in a hospital bed. It was then that and I decided I wasn't going to smoke anymore. So I guess ads aren't all that bad. And sometimes ads tell you about things that you didn't know about before, like cool concerts that are going on or about the new Licks restaurant opening up in your neighborhood.

So I guess ads are okay if they don't make you do something stupid like buy a computer because it comes in an interesting colour (We all remember the iMac).

Anyway, the moral of the story: Obey all ads.
